In 1978 George Cup
& Steve Elliot began a series of "foliebooks" which
utilized ink on transparent pages to create an image using changing
opacities. A square comprised of 9 smaller squares continu-ally gains and
looses a square as the pages are turned. This process of building
and deconstruction is repeated twice in foliebook #12.
